Why Your Unique Voice Matters More Than Ever

Greetings and Happy New Year’s Eve!

2023 was a creative technology explosion 💥 

Here are just some of the innovations of the past year:

• OpenAI’s ChatGPT 4.0 and DALL·E 3

• Adobe Photoshop’s Generative Fill, Adobe Illustrator’s Text to Vector

• Adobe Podcast’s incredible “Enhance Speech” audio voice cleaner

• Midjourney’s stunning progress in text to image generation

• RunwayML, Pika Labs, and Leonardo.ai’s huge advancements in text/image to video

• Relume’s text to fully-made website

• Notion, Text Blaze, Publer (and pretty much every other company) integrating AI

The list goes on and on...

We should assume this exponential growth will continue in 2024.

The sheer ease of access to simple AI tools for text, image, video, voice, and music generation has already transformed the content landscape. This transformation has introduced a flood of non-unique, mostly generic content, creating intense competition for attention.

To be completely clear—I’m not suggesting you should avoid these tools. Quite the contrary… they can be incredibly useful and valuable additions to your workflow.

However, all of this makes embracing and showcasing your unique perspective, skills, and experience even more important.

To stand out as a creator, you must:

• Practice creating daily

• Purposefully craft your voice and style

• Consume content with purpose in mind

• Understand the value you have to offer the world

• Lean into your unique point of view and experience

• Embrace new technologies that can enhance your workflow

• Have high standards for your own creations (without being a “perfectionist”)

I’ve discovered wonderful new teachers and mentors who consistently share invaluable wisdom and insights. I’ve learned and integrated new tools that enhance my efficiency and effectiveness as a creator.
